Shalom Mann
Founder and Creative Director
As the former Senior Vice President and Studio Head of Sony Online Entertainment-Los Angeles, Shalom Mann was responsible for managing a small but focused team that created games for the PlayStation Network. Game quality and fun were the primary focus of the team's designs. Mann managed the day-to-day operations of the team as well as oversaw all development and production.
Mann was with Sony for almost 10 years and executive produced over 50 games for various platforms including mobile phones, casual games for the PC, and downloadable games for the PlayStation 3. Some of the titles he worked on include Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 for mobile phones, James Bond: Casino Royale for mobile phones, The Da Vinci Code downloadable game for PCs and he has won multiple Game of the Year awards for the mobile games, God of War: Betrayal and Ratchet & Clank: Going Mobile.
Since joining Sony in 1999, Mann has worked on a multitude of projects, including his previous role as Vice President of the Advanced Platforms Group where his responsibilities included studying emerging technologies (mobile and wireless applications, 3D applications and user interfaces with Sony Japan, content development for game consoles with SCEA, digital rights management, e-distribution) and building out functional prototypes for potential deployment. The Advanced Platforms team went on to kick off two interactive television shows, Wheel of Fortune and JEOPARDY! in addition to launching a mobile gaming group and an online gaming group.
Mann was recently voted number 42 in The Hollywood Reporter's and Producer Guild of America's Digital 50 for 2007. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Advertising and Marketing from Cal Poly State University, Pomona and currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two daughters.
Jason King
Founder and Technical Director
Jason King is a proven industry leader having released over 30 games spanning a 16 year professional career. His credits range from Freddi Fish to Total Annihilation to Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Star Wars Episode III. Jason King has worked on or led the technology of some of the most advanced engines of their time: from the Scumm engine to the Slayer engine to the Gamebryo engine. King was most recently the Technical Director for SOE-LA and where he worked on the downloadable versions of JEOPARDY! and Wheel Of Fortune for the PlayStation Network.
King graduated with a BS in Computer Science in 1992. He then began working at Central Point Software on PC Tools for Windows and DOS. After 3 years at Central Point Software, Jason entered the games industry as a tools programmer at Humongous Entertainment working on the internal tools for the Scumm engine. Once Humongous Entertainment created their Cavedog label, he began working on the tools for Total Annihilation and Amen (a blockbuster first person shooter that was never released). After 6 years with Humongous Entertainment, King moved on to work at The Collective where he established the toolset for the Slayer engine. While at The Collective, he continually demonstrated all the qualities of leadership and technical direction and was promoted to Tools Technical Director. After 7 years with The Collective, King moved on to Sony Online Entertainment where he was brought in as Technical Director to establish a programming team dedicated to downloadable content. Jason currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, a couple of pugs, and a cat.
Steven Leff
Co-Founder and Interactive Director
Steven Leff brings with him over 10 years of interactive production experience to One Loop Games. Starting his career back in the early days of the web, he gained experience working on high-profile brands for many leading entertainment companies including Universal, Sony, and Fox. Steve was a founding member of the Creative Resources group at Pandemic Studios for over 7 years where he designed, programmed, and produced a number of high profile websites and interactive media for AAA game titles such as The Saboteur, Star Wars Battlefront, Mercenaries, Full Spectrum Warrior and more. Before joining One Loop, Steve worked as a Senior Web Developer for Electronic Arts, where he was tasked with helping to develop the Command & Conquer website in a Drupal based environment.
Steve currently lives in Los Angeles with his new wife and their menagerie of pets.
Bob Mitchell
VP, Platform Engineering
Bob Mitchell brings over 20 years of programming and leadership experience to One Loop Games. Mitchell was Director of Technology at Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) where he worked with the company's six game studios to create the several leading online games. His expertise includes user experience, game systems, server architecture, localization, project management, and rapid prototyping. He directly contributed as a programmer or engineering lead on Trivial Pursuit Online, EverQuest, EverQuest II, PlanetSide, and Free Realms. He originally led an engineering team as the Manager of Game Services in the SOE Platform Group delivering shared technology.
Mitchell then joined Ohai, Inc., as the Client Lead where he shipped two social games on the Facebook platform: City of Eternals and Unicorn Parade. Most recently, Mitchell was an independent contractor providing programming, technology, and game play expertise to game companies.
Mitchell earned a B.S. in Systems Engineering from Harvey Mudd College and was a technical manager at QUALCOMM before returning to his childhood passion: computer games. Bob sold his first computer game at the age of 16 for the Commodore Amiga. He lives on the north coast of California with his wife, a chatty cat, and a retired greyhound.
